Session length varies depending on your session type.
The Express Session is geared towards a quick and clean headshot for Linkedin profiles, email signatures, and websites. It lasts 15 minutes.
The Standard Session provides more variety and options. It lasts around 30 minutes.
The Portfolio Session involves multiple wardrobe and background changes and usually lasts an hour.
Clothing recommendations vary based on your goals, industry, and your personal style.
As a general rule, form fitting clothing photographs best. Avoid lose and flowy clothing as they will add bulk in your headshot.
Solid colors photograph best. Blue, Gray, and Green are very complimentary to most skin types. Avoid logos and busy patterns as they are distracting in the images.
If you are in a traditional industry (law, sales, IT, healthcare, consulting) business clothing works really well. Generally a shirt with a jacket fits most of these looks nicely. A tie is optional, depending on how casual your industry is.
If you are in a creative industry (design, consulting, building, creation) a more casual or "statement" look works well. Please bring options if you are going for a statement look.
When in doubt, bring options and we can go over them together. If you leave it at home, we won't have the option to use it.
Yes! We encourage it.
Please bring options and we can help you select the best clothing for your headshot session.
Wear your hair and make-up like you normally do. Don't try out a new hairstyle or make-up for headshots. We want the final image to be authentic to who you are.
Right now the trend is more natural looking make-up and more muted color palletes.
Eyeliner or Mascara is great for "popping" the eyes
If you have blemishes or skin redness, don't "Cake on" make-up to try and cover them. We can handle it during the image retouching for a more natural look. If you have severe redness or blemishes it may be worth booking a make-up artist for airbrushed make-up.
If you're interested in booking a make-up artist for your session, we have one we work with that does a fantastic job. Her rates are $80 for headshot hair/make-up (single look). We can coordinate schedules.
The session type includes a set number of final images. You can always purchase additional retouched images from your session. Every purchased image includes retouching and a commercial image release. Unpurchased proofs are not included in your session.
Express Includes 1 final image.
Standard incldues 2 final images.
Portfolio includes 5 final images.
Retouched headshots are ready 3 business days after they are selected.
Rushing processing is available (same day) for an additional fee of $75 / image.
We will guide you through every step of the way. All sessions include posing and expression coaching so you'll look your best. We help you avoid "cheesy" smiles and opt for a more natural, confident look.
It depends on your schedule flexiblity. Most people schedule about 3-5 weeks in advance so they can select the date and time that works best for their schedule (as well as prepare clothing for the session).
However, our calendar is online - so if you have a flexible schedule you might be able to find an opening this week.
